First analysis of a magazine contents page

This magazine contents page is for "XXL" magazine, a Hip Hop magazine, The image used instantly links with the Hip Hop/ Rap steryeotype, lots of gold jewellry, hats and even the pose suggests that they are hip hop artists. This stereotype is useful to the reader because it immediatly tells them what genre of magazine they are reading.
The colours used are simple and contrasting to each other. The white stands out on the black and the red is bright to add colour. The colours make the page look clean and neat. The two people on the image look angry and serious, This corrolates with the colours used as they are bold and powerful. The use of bold lettering to introduce what is in small print makes you want to read on and find out  what it is about. The language is clear and easy and links with the picture for example "little friend" when we look at the image we see two men, one much smaller than the other. Or the use of a question "can i live?" makes us wonder who has said it or what is it about. This draws the reader into reading that article to find out more.
