Contents page re- draft

Evaluation – double page spread

The double page spread is a double page that includes an article and image. I have chosen to use the same model for my double page spread as the front cover and contents page. This is because it helps the reader to understand who she is and what she does. In this month’s magazine “BIG K” is the artist focussed on, next month it would be someone else. This creates continuity throughout and also means when a customer picks up the magazine and sees an image of “BIG K” on the front they know what to expect when they turn to the first double page spread.

I have kept the same colour scheme throughout the double page spread as the rest of the magazine. This is purple, grey and black. I have done this as it creates continuity and makes the magazine seem more professional and sophisticated rather than scatty and random.

The image I have chosen hopefully sums up the genre of the magazine so that the reader knows what they are about to read. She is dressed in hip hop clothes and her body language infers she is a rapper.

I kept the article short and snappy as this what I have seen when looking at other rap magazines that are already made. Also too much text can stop the reader from been interested. The article is in a chatty informal language so the reader can relate to it but also sticks to the rap/hip hop stereotype because of the use of slang and the choice of words as if the person is stood talking to the reader.

I used the arrow through the middle of the page to separate the page up into an area for text and for image but also as it links to the phrase “what  goes around comes around” as the arrow representing something carrying on going round. I tried not to fill the page up too much so it’s not too busy but on the other hand I filled empty space so the article looks interesting and fun.
